Caging
for Amazon Tree Boas has a few specific requirements. After they're met,
you can basically do what ever you want. First of all, it must be
able to hold (and withstand) humidity. Cages with too much ventilation will let the
humidity dry up too quickly. Cages without enough ventilation will
develop mold which can cause all kinds of health problems.

Perches/branches Amazons prefer the bigger chunks of drift wood rather
than branches. They would much prefer to lay in a nook, fork, or on a
flat or broad section of wood. They will perch on single branches, but they prefer
branches with forks or crisscrossed branches. Although they will sometimes perch on
straight branches or PVC perches like Emerald Tree Boas do, more often than not, if they don't have a
place to perch that suites their fancy they'll just lay on the cage floor. That
kind of ruins the whole effect of having an arboreal snake.

For younger ATBs, you can also use this plastic garden mess
for perching...

Naturalistic, display, and simplistic set-ups... setting up a large planted,
naturalistic mini-rainforest vivarium for one or two tree boas can be an excellent
show piece and a lot of fun to just sit and observe for hours at a time,
especially in the late evening .
It's a lot more work than just a water dish and newspaper
substrate, but at the same time, the visual rewards are well worth it. more
